Bond's New 'tini

I really haven't got a hankering to see the new Daniel Craig version of Casino Royale, but I do have a yen for trying his new drink, the "Vesper" -- reportedly a word for word recreation from author Ian Fleming's 1953 novel. CAUTION is required when imbibing this lethal potion. As old school would say: "One is enough and two is too many!"

The Vesper
Three measures of Gordon's gin
one of vodka
half a measure of Kina Lillet
Shake it over ice, then add a thin slice of lemon peel.

(And, yes, we know. It should really be stirred and not shaken. But you know how he is!)

Yeah, Daniel Craig leaves me cold- something off about Bond as a Blonde. This drink, however, sounds mighty intriguing.

It's so nice to meet another real martini drinker (gin vs. vodka). I am predisposed to the twist of lemon as well.

A good gin, which Hendrick's is, has a flavor that far outdoes any vodka I've ever sampled. Except Dubrovka- a Polish elixir infused with a single strand of Buffalo grass (um... yeah)- that I became acquainted with during my stay in the Land of the Rising Sun. And which I have yet to find in this d*gforsaken country! Grrr...

My family is a firm believer in the cocktail hour. My grandmother loved G&Ts and salted peanuts every day around 5ish. Good tradition, methinks.
